Badrinath is the one of the holiest pilgrim destination for Hindus and is one of the Char Dhams  visited by lakhs of devotees every year. It is located on the banks of Alaknanda River and is surrounded by high Himalayan mountains.The Nar Parbat is located opposite to the temple, while the Narayana Parbat is located behind, with the Neelkanth peak in the background. 

The Badrinath Temple opens for six months every year, between April and November, and remains close after November till April because of extreme cold weather. The main god of Badrinath Temple is Lord Badrinath(Vishnu) depicted sitting in Padmasana under a Badri Tree(Jajubi tree).

The temple finds mention in several ancient Hindu books like Bhagwat Puran, skand puran and Mahabharat.

According to Hindu mythology it is the place where God Vishnu sat in meditation for years. During his meditation he was unaware of cold weather so to protect him his wife Lakshmi took the form of a badri tree to shade him and hence he is called Badrinath. Pleased by her devotion God Vishnu named the place Badrika Ashram.

The mountains around Badrinath are mentioned in Mahabharata as the route Pandavas took on their 'Ascent to Heaven’. The Pandavas passed through Badrinath and the town of Mana. Bheem Pul , Vyasa and Ganesha caves are in mana where according to legend Mahabharata was written.

The best way to reach Badrinath is by taxi from Haridwar or Rishikesh. Some people come with their own vehicle but don’t take the risk if you have not driven on extreme hill conditions. The experienced taxi drivers will be best choice as they are regular drivers on the route. Buses are also available upto Joshimath which is around 50km before Badrinath. Most of the pilgrims prefer to stay in Joshimath and take taxi from here to Badrinath get darshan visit nearby places and come back the same day and next day plan visit around Joshimath specially Auli  which is popular for skiing and trekking. 

It is not just shrines and pilgrimage that Badrinath offers. It proffers the awesome beauty of the snow clad mountain peaks and the surging landscapes of the Garhwal region. Located near Tapt Kund, this kund is believed to be the recovery source of the Badarinath idol. The hot water springs comes out from beneath the Garur Shila and falls into a tank. Darshan of Badarinath is always preceded by a holy dip in this kund. Apart from that there are many other hot water springs. Devotees take a dip in them for their religious and medicinal value.

Nar-Narayan-Neelkanth :- Badrinath is in between Nar and Narayan mountain ranges is naturally bestowed with pristine surroundings and is beautifully set in the backdrop of the colossal Neelkanth mountain peak. 

Mana Village :- Mana is very close to Tibet border and it is one of the last villages of India. Most of the tourists who visit Badrinath also come to see the end of the road at Mana. Mana is inhabited by Indo-Mongolian tribes often called as bhotias. Mana is situated 3kms from Badrinath.

Bheem Pul :- Bheem Pul is an enthralling and adventurous place with mythological importance. This is the place where Bheem threw a big massif rock to make a path joining two mountains so that Draupadi could walk easily on it. Saraswati River is coming from between the mountain with immense force to merge with the water of Alanknanda River

Ganesha & Vyas Gufa :- Ganesh & Vyas Gufa are the places from where Ved Vyas dictated entire Mahabharata to God Ganesha so that he could write. Ved Vyas also meditated in this cave
