The main attraction of tourists in nainital is naini lake with a perimeter of approximately 3.5km, it offers ample opportunity for yachting, boating or self paddling the boat. There are two sides of the lake one on the northern side called mallital and one on the southern side called tallital. Both sides are connected by the MALL ROAD which is the busiest road of town abuzz with shops and shoppers dotted with hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, banks, travel agencies and street shops famous among tourists. On the northern side towards mallital is the famous bhotia market and chatt bazaar along with naina devi temple  

Naina Devi Temple Nainital

The temple is located on the northern shore mallital of Naini lake. The presiding deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two Netras or eyes. Along with Naina Devi are the deities of Mata Kali and Lord Ganesha. Nainital is believed to be one of the 64 Shaktipeeths, where one of the body parts of Goddess Sati fell. In Nainital, the eyes (naina) of the Goddess are assumed to have fallen. The shrine of Naina Devi is a must visit for devout Hindus.

Snow View Point Nainital

Naina Peak also known as China or Cheena Peak is the highest peak in the town, with an altitude of  8,579 ft. From naina peak you can enjoy the view of snow clad peaks of Himalayan range and also get to see  panoramic view of Nainital town itself.

High Altitude Zoo Nainital

Opened in 1994, it is one of the two High altitude Zoo in India,so don’t forget to visit this place because here you will see some of the animals which you will not see generally in other zoos across india. Monkeys, Himalayan black bear ,snow Leopard , Siberian Tiger, Palm civet cat, Wolf, Silver Pheasants, Rose ringed Prakeet, Hill Fox , Ghoral, Barking Deer, Sambhar are some of the animals kept here. Please note that this zoo remains close on Monday and all national holidays.
