Ranikhet, which means Queen's meadow in Hindi, gets its name from a local legend, which states that it was here, that Raja Sudhardev won the heart of his queen, Rani Padmini, who subsequently chose the area for her residence, giving it the name, Ranikhet.

Ranikhet is a hill station and cantonment  maintained by the Indian Army. It is the headquarter of one of the most glorious regiment of Indian army - Kumaon Regiment along with Naga Regiment.

Ranikhet is an all season tourist-spot for the admirers of the natural beauty reflecting the best views of the great Himalayas. Army Museum Ranikhet
