Jaipur the capital city of the Rajasthan State was founded and named after Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Also known as the Pink City because of the color of the stone or paint used exclusively in the buildings of the old city. Jaipur is steeped in history and culture. City palace Jaipur
The City palace complex lies in the heart of Jaipur city consisting of an impressive and vast array of courtyards, gardens, buildings and palace.It was the seat of Maharaja of Jaipur. The place houses Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani's Palace, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. Once in Jaipur do not miss to visit this place.
Hawa Mahal Jaipur
Hawa Mahal is the icon of Jaipur city constructed in red and pink sandstone. It sits on the edge of City Palace. One of the most famous place of interest in Jaipur city Hawa Mahal consist of the famous five story front façade 50 ft high in the shape of crown of Krishna built for the women of the royal household so that they could observe street festivities while unseen from the outside.
Jantar mantar Jaipur
One should not miss the visit to Jantar mantar of Jaipur if interested in astronomy and want to know how it was done before the modern day instruments were not in place. Kids will be fascinated to know how these used to function.
Amer/Amber Fort palace Jaipur
The Amer Fort/Palace is a magnificent fort that was built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century. It is situated 11 km from Jaipur on Delhi highway and is one of the most visited landmarks of Jaipur city. It is built of red sandstone and marble, the lakes in front of it add charm to the fort. Inside the fort for you will find beautifully designed and constructed structures like Suraj pol,Ganesh Pol , Sila Devi Temple,Sheesh Mahal, 'Diwan-i-Aaam and Sukh Mahal etc all impressing the visitors. Don’t miss the Royal Elephant ride at Amer Fort.
Nahargarh Fort Jaipur
Nahargarh Fort is located on the rugged ridge of Aravali Hills and it forms an impressive northern backdrop of Jaipur. It looks most classy when floodlit at night. The fort overlooks the city and presents a glittering view of the city lights. It was built in 1734 and extended in 1868. Nahargarh meaning abode of the tigers was built by Jai Singh to bolster the defence of Jaipur City. The legend has it that it was named Nahargarh after Nahar Singh, a prince whose spirit would destroy the construction and stall its progress. So after a tantrik invoked the spirit, it agreed to withdraw on condition that the fort would be named after him. The Fort is very famous among visitors and scenes of some bollywood movies were also shot at this fort.
